Glow keeps coming up in my recommendations and I keep avoiding it like the plague. Maybe I'll actually check it out one of these days. :[
Has some of the most lovable characters plus it's such an easy watch. Definitely check it out.

Just finished Glow S1, fucking awesome/10. I was skeptical but holy hell it was good. Thereís a lot, A LOT, of clingy things in the first few eps but they definitely work past it.
Cringy.... not clingy. Sigh.

D, I recommend it whole heartedly. I think it definitely appeals to people who like professional wrestling but itís made for people who donít know anything about it.

Started Ozark, Iím interested to see where it goes.

Crash Bandicoot

It's not awful, but it's clearly from the branch of platformers like Bug and Bubsy 3D that were trying to figure an unknown genre out before games like Super Mario 64 and Prince of Persia defined what that genre was going to be.

I'm currently playing Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. The base gameplay is the same, but it's a lot more refined and varied.
Crash 2 and 3 and miles ahead of the original. So many small quality of life improvements.

I bet analog controls is the first one.
That would be one of the main ones.
There is also less rounded edges in the sequels. First is a frustrating mess of thinking you've made the jump but sliding off because of how the edge of platforms were made. The difficulty curve is also much better as opposed to the absolute mess of the first one.

I found this review: https://web.archive.org/web/20061108111526/http://www.totalgamerzone.com:80/review/samandmaxep1-1.html

Not sure if it's the same one.
There was one where I remember we were like the first site on the net to put it up (probably broke an embargo unknowingly lol). Think I gave it a 68.

So cool to look back at our old site haha

https://web.archive.org/web/20061107035939/http://www.totalgamerzone.com:80/reviews

Do you ever look back and think what we could've done if we had the coding knowledge you know now back then? That was the only thing that held us back.
Im pretty sure we honoured the embargo because i remember you telling me we cant post it live till a specific date. Yea man web.archive.org do a really good service, thankfully to them our website still exists.

I think it would of been interesting if i knew programming back then, but also could have been worse. In our case we didn't know programming, we found the best available tool at the time and spent countless hours doing manual data entry, re-adjusting images etc. So we made it work, big part was the community involvement too, but we were really motivated, probably the most motivated i have ever been on any project ever lol. Things collapsed when we started to play with programming.Granted our manual solution would of got exhausting after awhile as the more content we added the more complex managing each page became. So the idea of moving to something automated was great, just the execution was poor.

If i came into TGZ with programming experience and started to build something from the ground up(keep in mind back then there wasn't all that much support or frameworks to build on top of) It could very well just died in the programming stage just due to the sheer amount of work involved to build a system from scratch.
Yeah we definitely had to make to move to a more automated system eventually cause the manual input was becoming too much. One of our biggest issues though was pretty much having to rely entirely on outside help which was difficult considering it was just a passion project.
Looking back we were already doing things that have exploded in popularity now. Roundtable/podcast style discussions and the whole 'group of friends' talking about games as opposed to a branded site.

Do you ever remember how high our Alexa rank had gotten? Not sure if I'm remembering way wrong but I think we got to like 11-14K at one point. Obvs not the most reliable measurement but still.

TJ Wilkin doesn't insult Sam and Max with low scores

Yeah, he just insults literally everything else :roff:

:P
Held the record for lowest review score given in TGZ history

In retrospect sound deserves at least a 5 for Parents Just Don't Understand
