Outside of Nier Automata they hadn't made a great game since Bayo 2. Star Fox Zero, TMNT, Legend of Korra are horrible and Transformers was ok/good at best. Plus they had the Scalebound cancellation.
Meanwhile ND practically releases only GOTYs or GOTY noms 
Platinum at least releases more than one game every five years and doesn't rehash all of their old stuff for a quick buck. Let's look at all of the new games ND released since Platinum Games was founded.
2009 - Uncharted 2
2011 - Uncharted 3
2013 - The Last of Us
2016 - Uncharted 4
Nothing but sequels and one new IP. Now lets look at the good games Platinum has released in that time.
2009 - MadWorld
2009 - Bayonetta
2010 - Vanquish
2012 - Anarchy Reigns
2013 - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
2013 - The Wonderful 101
2014 - Bayonetta 2
2017 - Nier: Automata
Look at that twice the gems in the same time as ND and only one sequel to their own IP in the entire lineup. All of those other games you mentioned was co-developed by other studios. Scalebound was canceled because the Xbone and Microsoft are a fucking joke. Quite honestly ND should just give up games and start making movies because that's all they've been making in over a decade. And don't even try to pull that quality over quantity shit, every game of Platinums I listed had gameplay that was a thousand times deeper than ND's cinematic shooter snoozefests.
